4.1.1 Raw Materials
and Additives
The basic requirements of production and
of using the most economic manufacturing process determine
the choice of raw materials (in terms of type, purity, grain
size and specific surface area), as do the supplementary ingredients.
With their distribution and purity, additives such as
- (inorganic) sintering aids
and the (usually organic) forming aids, such as
- liquefaction agents,
- plasticisers or
- binders
are as significant as the raw materials themselves.
